SPA WEEK® OFFERS SHELTER FROM THE HEALTHCARE STORM

An Affordable, Healthy Wellness Lifestyle for Everyone

New York- March 2010: In the wake of an urgent national debate on healthcare, Americans ended the first decade of the 21st century less certain about their wellness futures than ever before. In these unsure times, Americans are increasingly turning to alternative therapies to strengthen the body and guard against illness. The health benefits of the spa have never been more relevant, and Spa Week is proud to ring in the new decade by continuing to deliver the benefits of the spa at an affordable price to millions of deserving consumers.

The 12th edition of the Spa Week Event is slated for April 12th – 18th, 2010. In total, the nationwide Spa Week Spring Event will include 30 markets and a list of participating spas has been poted www.spaweek.com as of March 15th. The Spring Spa Week Event will bring $50 spa treatments to consumers at over 800 spas across North America. As always, the goal is to introduce a new generation of consumers to the benefits of a healthy lifestyle by opening up the spa industry to the masses. Spa Week has spent the last 6 years turning “wellness” from a mere buzzword into a healthy reality.

Thanks to the efforts of Spa Week and their Spa Week Spring and Fall Events, the spa industry now offers health benefits to an unprecedented cross-section of the American public. Since its inception, Spa Week has afforded hundreds of thousands of people the ability to heal, strengthen, and energize at the spa. Spa Week has dashed the old myth that the spa is where the rich and famous go to be pampered; thanks to the success of the Spring and Fall Events, over 350,000 affordable spa treatments have been booked and enjoyed by average Americans since 2004.

Never content to rest on past successes, though, each Spa Week Event brings the cutting edge of health and wellness technology to the average consumer. In addition to offering traditionally beneficial stress-busting and immune-boosting spa treatments like massage, Spa Week brings intensive, clinical therapies to consumers at the same $50 price point with hundreds of participating medi-spas all over the country.

As the healthcare crisis rages on in Washington, Spa Week’s mission to educate consumers to the health benefits of the spa lifestyle is more important—and more successful—than ever. Spa Week affords everyone the ability to experience the incredible physical benefit of spa treatments and therapies.

Spa Week was created and founded by Cheryl Reid, who hails from successful careers within the luxury spa industry and publishing spheres. Spa Week is thrilled to announce its 2010 Presenting and Title Sponsor; Dove Deodorant, Exclusive Cosmetic Sponsor; Bare Escentuals, Exclusive Wine Sponsor; Rioja, Exclusive Destination Sponsor; Canyon Ranch, Exclusive Wedding Sponsor; The Wedding Channel, Exclusive Fashion Sponsor; Fashion Week Daily, Exclusive Spa Association Partner; ISPA and National Media Sponsor; Allure Magazine.

Hopefully I can put away my maternity jeans sooner than later

Posted by: Mom~E~Centric  /  Category: Miscellaneous

Yes, my youngest on was 5 last November but that doesn’t negate the need for and the love of my maternity clothes.  Honestly, those the most comfortable low-rise pants and shorts I’ve ever had.

I pretty sure they alarm the fashion police too and if you have are one of the many authors of great fashion blogs, I could always use your support with my clothes for the upcoming conference.  Honestly, I doubt anyone wants to seem me sporting those maternity jeans all over the cocktail scene, do they?

Ready Set Dance!

Posted by: Mom~E~Centric  /  Category: Miscellaneous

You know, I’m all about movement and making our mark in the world.  I don’t move enough but I have made the decision to increase my lack of inactivity by just a little each day.  With that, my kids are extremely active and I hope they continue to enjoy the running and playing.  Children learn so much from movement from the early stages of turning their head from one side to another, through rolling over, learning to walk and then learning to run.

The Primrose Schools are hosting a dance-off.  Basically we are talking about a Family Dance-ff Video Competition.  It combines the exercise that we all need with an increase in quality time with our children.  In case you aren’t familiar with the Primose schools, they are considered the leader in educational child care.  They have launched a national campaign to promote physical activity and healthy choices.

So how can you join in the fun?

First, record a 30 second home video of your family putting on the ritz with their best dance moves.  Then, visit the Family Dance-Off site and upload your best video.  From there, you just visit and vote daily for your favorite family dance video.

If your video makes the cut, you are eligible to win a $5,000 grand prize, Wii Fit Bundle, Flip Video Camera and a $30,000 donation to your local Children’s Miracle Network.

Here’s some food for thought:

Childhood obesity is a critical issue for young children in America. Dance is a fun, easy way to introduce physical activity into your family’s routine while enjoying quality time together. The Family Dance-off supports Children’s Miracle Network, a non-profit organization that raises funds for more than 170 children’s hospitals, which collectively treat 17 million children annually for every illness and injury imaginable.

With that, how can you pass up the chance to get your groove on and show your little mites some of your best moves?  Let’s go, get busy….moving, growing, learning…

Preparing to make changes, even in our shopping habits

Posted by: Mom~E~Centric  /  Category: Miscellaneous

Just as the post-holiday dust settles, my husband and I start to try to figure out what we are going to use our money for that our parents sent plus what we chose to save in lieu of gifts under the tree.  We have never been really good at restraint when it comes to money but this year, we actually did a fairly decent job.

So now, it’s time to break out the shopping deals.  We are definitely on the hunt for a dishwasher.  And since we’ve never been good with money (like I said above), we need to do our best compare shopping prices on the items we need.

I put my husband on the prowl for the perfect solution for us.  We removed our cabinets under the sink about a year ago because we had a really bad leak.  And, shortly after that was when the dishwasher went south.  That leaves us free to buy the biggest dishwasher we can find because trust me, we hate to wash dishes in this house and apparently we aren’t too fond of loading and unloading dishwashers either.

Lo and behold, I sat and listened as my husband look at one appliance and then another.  Before he was finished, he was looking at freezers and trying to talk to me about what a great asset a freezer would be.  And, the man is a genius, he is right, we could use one…that’s exactly why we already have one.  That man *shakes head*!

How much does it cost to educate a child?

Posted by: Mom~E~Centric  /  Category: Miscellaneous

I would like to do a very unscientific idea of how much it cost to educate a child.  I have a spreadsheet that I would like for you to fill out.  If you agree to fill out a survey of the amount of money spent thus far on your child(ren)’s education and/or are willing to ill out a survey once a week to track expenses (for a total of 18 weeks from beginning to end), please fill out this preliminary survey.

Holidays at Casa Reason are usually filled with food.  But, as usual, I dont’ like hot food in the summer time.  I consume wear more fruits and veggies int he summer than the winter because most of them (the ones you eat raw anyway) are best when kept cold.

So, for the 4th, we will celebrate with friends and family, hotdogs, hamburgers, strawberry shortcake pie, watermelon, home ice cream and red (strawberries), white (marhmellows) and blue (blue berries) Kabobs.

So, hang on, have a good time and work at the day to be safe!
